For the past six months, a team of poets, playwrights, illiustrators, and community organizers have gathered to write a play about the development and displacement that’s happening in the Frogtown and Rondo neighborhoods of Saint Paul. The show, titled HAPPY DISPLACEMENT, features the stories of a community near you as it struggles with gentrification. Funny, poignant, and often frustrating, it puts a very human face on the realities of “progress.”  

Lollipops picked from coffins
Paved over by wayward ways
Prompt service when they walk in
Seems my black butt been here fore days
Hipsters wearing walkmans
Darkness in their shades
Gentrification ain't so bad.
