Ray RayMy name is Ray Ray. I’m 18, and supposed to be in my senior year of school, but I had to move with my mom all the way out to Arlington. We’re the only Black family out there, and I don’t wanna go to the high school, cuz I’m scared of getting profiled or bullied. I try to come up to school here as much as I can, but it’s an hour drive. I make beats, and maybe want to become an audio engineer. For now I just work at Burlington.

I’m scared that because I movedI won’t be able to graduate from here. Quirk- I talk really fast and move my hands a lot when I do. Some of my favorite phrases are “okay but wait” and “no but really” Hobby- I make beats Occupation- student & works at Burlington Coat Factory Morning Routine- I am not a morning person. I set like 7 alarms so that I wake up. I go downstairs to help my little brother get breakfast, and then go back upstairs to brush my teeth and do my hair. Usually I like it straight, but sometimes I don’t have time and throw it in a ponytail. Some days I just go to work — I can walk there from my house, but it takes like 20 minutes. When my mom can, she’ll drive me up to St. Paul so I can go to school. Attitude towards gentrification- I don’t like gentrification. That’s the reason my mom and I had to move all the way out to Arlington. Our rent went up too much and it was the only place we could afford and have me and my brother and sister all stay with my mom. I guess it’s cool that there are places like Burlington so I can work, but I don’t like it. |
